Hope in a Box – Bohol

When times are hard in our society, we don’t wait for the opportunity to help, WE SEEK IT.

I returned from Manila to Tubigon Bohol just before the implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), and while on self-isolation, i had the opportunity to discuss with my Yellow Boat of Hope Family on what we can do to help the situation of the students who are now forced to stay at home. We felt that it is very important that the kids can continue to do something or learn during this time.

We coined a project called #HopeInABox. The idea is simple, engage the kids by providing them with a tool to learn and express their creativity – and hopefully, every stroke and each shade of colour can spark hope amidst these uncertain times.

I printed pages from the colouring book i published last year and put together an Art Kit/box that has crayons, pencils, sharpener, scissor, eraser, colouring pages, other personalised items like face masks especially made for kids and some snacks. Along with my mom, we went around our barangay and handed the ‘Hope Boxes’ to Forty (40) children. It was so heartwarming to see the faces of the children light up upon receiving the simple gift. It prompted me to initiate this campaign to reach out to more school children in my municipality, Tubigon, through your help.

For only PHP150, you will be able to warm the heart of one school kid. Trust me, it’s precious gold for them this time.

Most importantly, i encourage Boholanos to join me in this crusade by creating your own #HopeInABox campaign so we can reach out to more barangays and municipalities in the province of Bohol. Small as it may look, i believe that our collective desire to make a difference this time goes a long way not just for the children, but also for their families.

Thank you so much in advance friends for your support. Hope sails because of you!

Love,

Pauline Amelinckx

Hello! My name is Pauline Amelinckx and I am an ambassadress at Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation, an amazing organization that helps provide access to education to poor school kids in coastal communities. I am an official candidate at Miss Universe Philippines 2020, and I am hopeful that I can continue to use my voice and influence to effect change and protect our marine life and ecosystem by educating the young ones.
