This birthday campaign is in support of the personal project of one of my former professors in college wherein an alumni like me under our program can donate 2nd hand or brand new laptops which can be used by the current scholars who are working students who cannot afford to buy their own laptops this pandemic.

As a grantee of the same scholarship, I know for a fact that these scholars are usually working as a security guard, janitor, service crew, nanny and other jobs with meager income. With no end to the pandemic in sight, I know how hard it is to study a Business management course heavy with financial statement analysis and use of Excel and MS applications without a laptop.

As my way of giving back to the College who has been so generous to me, I want to be able to extend help in any way I can. That is why for my upcoming birthday, I’m initiating this campaign to raise funds for at least two brand new laptops by January 1. I know how powerful education is in changing someone’s life because I experienced it first-hand. I have high regard for working students who do their best to earn a degree and I want to be able to help achieve their dream. Through this yearly birthday campaign, I hope to be instrumental in making a positive change in someone else’s life. One laptop at a time. One working scholar at a time.

BEAGIVER Aubrey Peñaflorida
Hi, I'm Aubrey. I'm a working student currently taking up Law (Juris Doctor degree). I am a graduate of Business Management where I was granted a scholarship for working students. Prior to earning my degree, I worked as a factory worker for two years, a saleslady at a Department Store in Ermita, a service crew in Jollibee Vito Cruz and a nanny in my Tita's house in Tondo. I was on my way home then when I saw a signage in one of the buildings in Quirino Avenue that changed my life - a 100-hour free training-for-work for call center agents. I qualified for the scholarship but I didn't get to finish the 100 hours because I was already hired in a call center two weeks after and the rest is history. As a working student myself, I know hard it is to juggle work and school plus all the dramas on the side that's why my heart goes out to them and I want to help in any way I can.
